Added Attractions include Concerts for Kids, the free KR Barkman Concerts in the Park summer concert series, and our Studio Series where small audience sizes meet big talent for a special concert experience.

Studio Series

Bery Filsaime and Candace Hamm, Cello and Piano

The Studio Series features house concert-style performances held at the beautiful SCU Studio, located in the Steinbach Cultural Arts Centre. Exceptional artists connect with a small audience, creating an experience that is intimate, captivating, and extraordinary. Coffee and light refreshments will be served, and there will be opportunity to see these fabulous artists up close and speak with them after the concert.

A Florida native, Bery Filsaime began playing the violin at age seven before switching to the cello at age nine. His musical education has taken him from Florida, to Tennessee and Manitoba. Currently, Bery performs with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra in addition to teaching.

Originally from Morden, Candace Hamm’s musical education has kept her closer to home in Manitoba.  In heavy demand for her creative, invested teaching style, Candace maintains a piano and theory studio of over sixty students and is actively involved in the local music community.

Bery and Candace are both instructors with bustling studios at the Southeast Centre for Music at the Steinbach Arts Council. Their talent and passion for music education is sure to result in an evening that is as inspiring as it is entertaining!

The Steinbach Arts Council is proud to present Stephen Schwartz’s Godspell, directed by Jeremy Plett and David Klassen. The message of Godspell is one of community – people of all walks coming together to lift each other up, and help build an understanding of the power of goodness and love. Featuring a cast and live band chock full of local talent, this is a production you won’t want to miss!

Zing-e-zing! Madame Diva and Micah

Prepare to be transported into a world of birch bark canoes, paddles, hairy adventures, and lots of laughter with Madame Diva and Micah the young voyageur! This performance is geared toward young audiences and fun for the whole family.  Whether you’re fluent in French or English, Madame Diva’s expert use of ‘Frenglish’ ensures that every member of the audience is included and engaged! 

Madame Diva, personified by Jocelyne Baribeau, is a recipient of the prestigious Parents’ Choice Award in the United States. Since creating Madame Diva in 2009, Jocelyne Baribeau has received a number of award nominations including the Western Canadian Music Awards, the Gala des prix Trille Or, as well as the Canadian Folk Music Awards.
